200 Pounds Beauty

Recently i have watched a Korean movie - 200 Pounds Beauty when i was in Singapore, though i bought the DVD from Malaysia (so,it's like i smuggled DVDs into Singapore ,haha). It was a funny movie at the beginning of the story, but somehow the way the director played with the story had made the story gets so touching at the end. I mean, real touching.

The story goes like this ...An ugly girl (actually for me, she is cute),Han-Na, with a body height of 165cm and body weight of 200 pounds who really wanna to be a beautiful singer. Well, she has the voice of angel, but too bad, nothing is always perfect. Her ugly and fat body turn everything bad luck for her. Anyway, her job is a singer due to her beautiful voice, but as mentioned, due to her ''unacceptable'' appearance, she can only sing for other people behind the stage. Her voice has made the ''singer'' so popular that the manager cannot afford to lose her. And it is during this time that she has fallen for this handsome man.But with her face, her body.... And,on the birthday of the manager, an incident happened and after that day,Han-Na disappeared...Will she able to fullfill her dream to become a real singer, and what will happen between she and him?

It's really a good movie, as it shows lots of real facts of life...that most of the people actually judge book by its cover. Beauty seems to be a measure for everything in the world. And from this movie, one will realize that no matter how beautiful, how gorgeous, how sexy or how handsome someone is, in the end, still it's the heart that counts. It's the inner qualities and personality of a person that give that person the real beauty which is eternal.

So, wanna to be a real beautiful, gorgeous person in the eyes of the others? Well, enough of powders, enough of lipstick, enough of cologne, the shirts are fine, the pants are fine, the shoes are fine too, and all you need now is just to build one ''beautiful'' personality, shape yourself and your character and last but not least,a simple smile.

''Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimm'd;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance or nature's changing course untrimm'd;
But thy eternal summer shall not fade
Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest;
Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou growest:
So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,
So long lives this and this gives life to thee.''

Visit To SWAMI

Finally, today is the day, which i will be going and looking for this SWAMI Home, since i have never been there, and has totally no clue at all, about this place. So, my visit was at 11.30 am. And so,i left very early, at about 10 am, as i have been informed that Sembawang is located very far from the place i stay. So, it's a long journey, and since it's my first day, i should arrive early. Therefore, after taking shower and putting up a casual clothes, the journey began.

Well, i had to take the MRT from Eunos all the way to City Hall, and then changed to the other train, all the way to Sembawang. It was really a long way, took about 1 hour. That was fine. The main problem came when i arrived there. Actually, i have no idea where is the actually this home located, so i got into a taxi , and told him the address. To my surprise, he didn't know as well. Then we were looking at the map and find this road. After like 20 minutes, then he gave up on me, and decided not to take me as customer. Well, i was really helpless at that time, and luckily, the next taxi driver which i cought knew the place.Thank God, i guess it's good karma...haha.

Arrived at SWAMI Home finally....but, still i had to wait like 45 minutes cause the officer that were supposed to meet me wasn't there. Hence, after waiting there and looking around, he finally back, and then i was taken with a women to look around all the units in SWAMI home. While visiting around, i was told that SWAMI provides residential care, day care and home care for the elders. Below are the summaries of the services provided:

1) Residential Care - 190 bedded Geriatric Wards , 50 bedded Dementia Wards.
2) Day Care - a)Dementia Day Care Centre , b)Day Rehabilitation Centre
3) Home Care - a)Home Medical Service, b)Home Nursing Service, c)Home Help
Service, d)Home Counselling, e)Home Rehabilitation

I was taken to every department, and get to see every part of the home. It's really big, with ponds full of fat (not big,but fat ) fish. The elders there looked pathetic, they looked so lonely,so helpless. Some are unable to walk, some are unable to eat, some are unable to talk, and worst, some can only lay on bed whole day. Felt kind of sorry and watching them made me think lots about life, and how fragile and short life is.I guess since life is so short and fragile, it even more important for us to live happilly everyday, and make everyday a meaningful day with love. And of course, healthy lifestyle included.

After visiting, we went to the office and discuss about the working hour for me this young volunteer from Malaysia who stay so far from the home. After filling some forms, and answering some questions such as ''What skills i have?'' , finally they decided to put me in Nursing Department (Tuesday), Physiotherapy Department (Thursday) and Day Care for Dementia (Friday). So, since i have no objection, and that's going to be my working time and working duty.

Thus, this is it....am i worried? no,not really. I think i am ready to handle this job and looking forward to it....

In The Train...Again

Had been travelling by the train from Malaysia to Singapore few times, and found it very convenient. And today, again i travelled to Singopore, and this time will be staying there for one month ( as mentioned in the previous post ).

Well, the train services linking Singapore and Malaysia ( as well as Thailand ) is provided by KTM ( Keretapi Tanah Melayu ). The train itself is very comfortable, they have seats as well as sleepers which is very nice. There are different classes for one to choose, depends on how much one will want to spend. The tickets are cheap, which is only RM 38 (lower berth)/RM43 (upper berth) for sleepers to travel from Malaysia to Singapore. And, they have a canteen as well,in the train to provide food for passengers who get hungry. However, the food sold there are pretty expensive. Other bad part about the train is that, they are not really punctual due to lots of unknown factors. So,it's not advisable to travel at last minute if one goes by train, you might end up being late for as long as 2 hours.

The train from Kuala Lumpur ( Malaysia ) departed in KL Central and arrived in Tanjung Pagar (Singapore). There are few trains running everyday - morning, afternoon and night. The journey takes about 10 hours. Before reaching Singapore, the train will stop at Johor Bahru ( Malaysia ) station, and there will be immigration checking by the officers inside the train itself where they will get in and ask for passports. After that, the train will cross the bridge linkings Malaysia and Singapore and arrive at Woodlands ( Singapore ) , where the passengers are required to get down the train for immigration process again by the Singapore government. After passing all those, passengers can choose to get back to the train and travel for about 45 minutes before reaching Tanjung Pagar ; or one can choose not to get back to the train but to the exit of the hall, and arrived in Woodlands.

And, that's about the train i always travel with .

Singapore,Here I Come!

Yes,that's right, i will be going to Singapore again and this time, it will not be like 2 or 3 days visiting, instead i will be staying there for one whole month. I am very excited and happy,of course.

Well, one of the main reasons why i will be going there is because i will be a volunteer in an Elder's Home called SWAMI ( Sunshine Welfare Action Mission ). I guess working there during this long break will be better than spending (wasting) my time sleeping and doing nothing at home except games. It's a golden opportunity for me to learn and get involved with the '' real world'' . Maybe it will be a hard work ( as what my family members said to scare me so that i will give up on this idea ) , but i guess i am big enough to handle hard work and not to mention,i am ready as well.

And for a person like me who come from a strict family, it was really hard when i tried to get permission from my family to work in Singapore , as a volunteer. My dad was pretty against my idea,so do my grandpa. But well, with the supports from the others, together with my strong will, i got the ''family visa'' at last, not very difficult,i guess after you are 19, it's much easier for you to get the permission, haha.

So, everything has worked out so far, and now i am just waiting for the day to come. It's going to be fun and i will have to cherish every single moment for that month.Really looking for it to come.YAHOO!!!

Driving On The Road

Well,it's been more than one year eversince i got my driving license, and surprisingly,i never even try to drive on the road. Now if you asked me where is the gear, i might say that isn't the gear is on my feet there? So, finally after realizing how stupid and ignorant am i, i decided to take initiative to re-learn my driving skills and of course drive on the road.

The opportunity came when my dad's friend borrowed our space here to park his car,due to some i don't know reasons, but well, who cares? More importantly, he left his keys to my dad, and that will mean that i have an '' experiment car '' to drive on road, lol. Actually, there are many reasons why i wanna to use his car.First, it's because it's small and sort of ''friendly-user'' type of car; second, that car is not my family car,so if anything happened, i guess it will be fine, haha ( though of course,we will have to pay for that ) and last but not least, my dad already helped him to fill up his gas to maximum limit using my dad's money,so of course i don't want to waste and let his friend takes all the advantages.

So, 1st day, i took the keys, got into the car, fit perfectly ( since i am small in saiz as well ), stucked in the keys ,turned on the engine, and hit on the road without even think of warming up first by driving around in my house compound! Of course , my sister was beside me, though she looked excited, but i can tell from her face that she was afraid too.Well,i guess everyone will scare too if they know that the car they are sitting in has a driver who doesnt even know where is the gear's location....So,actually i really wanna to thank my sister for ''risking her life'' sitting beside me and tutoring me.

Minutes later, i was on the road....smooth and nothing bad happened.Well, everything was fine. Ok, the show started when i reached the T-junction. Usually, people will stop, turn the gear to gear 1 or 2 , give signal, wait no car, then turn. And for my ''special'' case, i never stop, never change the gear, never give signal and never wait, but i turned. My sister was in shocked, and immediately, i can hear she screamed and shouted at me, scolding me....Ok,nevermind,we were safe, and more importantly, i learned. What a significant lesson...

So,we continued until we got into the street, everything was fine except that i almost hit a person and a car since the road is narrow. After that, we needed to get to the main road, so it meant that we have another junction. Of course , after all the scolding and shouting, i learned. Thus, this time i stopped, i changed the gear, i put signal, and i checked for cars.'' No cars...1,2 and 3 go.....''Great, the engine died and the car started to slide back ,almost knocked the car behind, luckily my response was fast enough to step on the break before i hit the car behind and smashed both cars. I survived!!! No....more precisely, we survived, haha. And i never got scolded by driver behind me, only by my sister, again. But i can look from the back mirror that the driver seemed to look afraid and tense.Really felt sorry for him though. After that, i turned back the engine and this time, successfully got into the main road and i guess my sister had enough heart attacks, so we decided to head back home.

After turning off the engine, we got out off the car. Then i looked back at the small Kelisa ( name of the car, local product of Malaysia ), it's really a nice car to drive, easilly handled and very convenient ,at least for people whose saiz like me. But then i looked carefully, and found something was not right. After few seconds, i finally realized that there was no ''P'' marker on the car which supposingly should be pasted there,so that people will know that the driver just got his/her license for less than 3 years, and extra attention should be given to them.Well, for my case, the ''P'' marker probably serves more than that,to tell the road users to pay more atttention, to be extra careful and alert when they approached me.And fortunately, i didn't meet police just now,or else i might have gotten a ticket.

It was fun,at last although i get scolded lots of times by my sister. But the good part is i learnt and i am getting better on my driving skills. I guess few more days of practice can definitely help me to improve better and well not more than one week, i believe i will be able to drive people on road.....safely.

The Painted Veil

The Painted Veil - a short story written by W. Somerset Maugham and they brought it to screen, which i have watched and it's really good. The movie is directed by John Curran and the scenes are taken in China.I haven't read the book yet but after watching the movie, it makes me feel like i really need to get the book as it is said that the original book is always better than movie, because the movie is really good,so i wonder how good will the book be.

The Painted Veil is a story that happened in the 1920's ,in China. It's a story based on certain themes such as loyalty, love, courage to change, cares and etc. The story starts when an upper classs woman - Kitty Garstin (Naomi Watts) met the middle class man - Dr. Walter Fane (Edward Norton) and they got married so fast due to family arrangement. Kitty had no feelings for Walter, but on the other side, Walter was deeply in love with her and will do everything to please her. After they got married, they went to Shanghai China, as Walter is a bacteriologist stationed in a government lab to study infectious disease. There, Kitty had fallen in love with the another white living there - Charlie Townsend, a married British diplomat, and of course a flirter . Kitty's ignorance had made her to have an affair with Townsend. However, when Walter found out later and in order to take vengeance against Kitty , he had volunteered to go to the cholera epidemic area. Kitty had no choice but to follow her husband after realizing that she had been cheated by Townsend. And it was there, where true love blossoms between Walter and Kitty. Kitty had changed from a spoiled ,bossy woman to a caring, loving lady and Walter had forgiven her as his love is too much, too deep towards Kitty. And when things started to turn good, unfortunate event happened...

Personally,i think the story is different from many other love stories because usually in love stories, both parties fell in love with each other and after going through all the obstacles, the lovers finally live happily ever after but in this story, Kitty had never in love with Walter although knowing how much Walter had fallen for her. And it was only after gone through all the events, she finally realized that the real love in her life is Walter. At first, i dont like the character Kitty as what she had an affair even though she is married, but as the story goes by, i started to like her more as she has the courage to change. She learnt from her mistake and changed to be a better person, which of course not much people can do.And for Walter, he is my favourite character, as his unconditional love for Kitty makes him a real gentleman.
The movie was well filmed. All the probes are incredibly
beautiful, the umbrella, costumes , the scenaries ,etc etc. I really like the way the director used in making this film, it makes the audience feel and understand what is true love and he successful in touching the hearts of the audience. From this movie, one can also see how's the life in China during the 1920s,where most of the Chinese people were poor and the raising in nationalisme among the people, where they were trying to get rid of the White invasion. The story showed lots of moral values and frankly speaking, i learnt a lot from the story.
In conclusion, i believe this is a worth-watching movie. It touches your heart and you will learn certain lessons. And for myself, i cant wait to get the book and read the original book...

Goodbye,My Friends ; 再见, 我的朋友...

Finally,my one and a half year A-level course ended. Yup, now i am free and just waiting to get into the correct university. Supposingly i should be happy,at least now i have moved a further step, but somehow i feel kind of sad. Ya,it's not because of the course i am missing,it's the friends i have met here especially my housemates and the life here in one and a half year in Subang Jaya,SS 15.

Ya,i have been staying in MyPlace Apartment 112C for one and a half year, not to say very long but not too short as well. And there,is the place where i have lots of memories - sad,happy,funny,crappy.....There, i have met all my housemates, and we all were from different places in Malaysia, from the North to the South - Kedah,Penang,Perak,Negeri Sembilan and Johor. At first, we were not so good, but then as time goes by, we have become friends. It's fun to stay with them - talk crap every night, play computer games together, study together, dinner together...it's like a routine. They have been great housemates....perhaps friends are the better word.I bet i will miss them,as my friends. It's strange, we only know each other for one and a half year, but the relationship is strong. We are friends, good friends....and i think it's because of staying together makes the friendships stronger. And sometimes i even wonder myself, how can them bear with my crappy and nonsense talk everyday....

And for my college , my classmates in college...nothing much to miss. It's true that my relationship with my classmates aren't very close, we are just classmates. Of course, they are a few proved to be worthy ones, and i am glad i met them.Personally i think the reason why i think i couldnt get along very well with them is because our behaviour and our ways of thinking are totally different. Most of my classmates are from rich family and of course they are being spoiled, with their arrogant attitude. Some are too nerdy, some are too serious and that i am a funny-crappy talker,so it's pretty hard for me to get crazy with them. I guess sometimes God is pretty fair, some people can never get along with their housemates, but they get along very well with their classmates, and for me, i get the friendships with my housemates, but couldnt get it with my classmates, though there are a few.
Like i said, i will be missing my college life, simple and happy.Of course, life goes on , and i will have a different experiences in the future. But one thing for sure, the memories stay there, and friends remains friends, and the friendships last forever...

Singapore

Located exactly in the equator of Earth, south of Malaysia, middle of South East Asia, a small island which is separated from Malaysia by a small distance.Though it's a small island, but it's densely populated by people of different colours - Chinese,Malays and Indians, and it's one of the most advanced and developed countries in Asia, yup that's Singapore.

Been travelled to Singapore for few times, but dont dare to write anything about it cause only a few times. But counting the last time, now i have been to Singapore for about 7 times and i guess it's time for me to write my impression about this country. Most of the times, i travelled to Singapore by train, which takes about 10 hours , from Kuala Lumpur to Tanjung Pagar in Singapore.A pleasant journey,of course.
Personally, Singapore is a beautiful city, where lots of skyscrapers , tall buildings can be seen everywhere and aparments in every part of the country.People here usually live in apartment rather than in a house due to insufficient of land and space ( Though they are now still buliding a casino for economy purposes ). Very advanced, and much developed compared to other countries in Asia. The city itself is clean and tidy, where one can expect the road to be free of papers or rubbish. This is due to the success of the high quality of the education system adapted in educating people and of course together with the strict law enforced.Though it's a big city, but one can still the green trees and small gardens in the center of the city.River running through the heart of the city and fancy stalls along it , as an attraction to the tourists. People here are very friendly, especially in neighbourhoods where people live in the same apartment always give presents to the neighbours when something are in abundance without wanting anything back. Of course, there are also people who are money minded and ready to take every single advantage from the foreigners, which we experienced it ourself.
Peace, prosper and developed , it's a beautiful city in the East where surprisingly you will not find the city is heavily polluted like any other. It shows success in the law and the leading by the current government.Very little vehicles here compared to Malaysia, people here usually get around using the convenient SMRT- fast and easy and basically you can get to every part of Singapore by using SMRT.
Though of it's advancement in technology, in business , in trading, shipping and so on and of course it's good from the point of view of an economist, but the old traditional values of the East are losing bits by bits and this, from the point of view of a sociologist,it shows deterioration. The mind of the young people here are being eaten by the West's thinkings and cultures that they started to lose their identity and cultures. The beautiful values of the East which people believe are missing day by day and the too '' open-minded'' thinkings of the West are taking over. This is something very obvious in Singapore.Pubs, night clubs and girls standing on the streets to provide ''entertainment'' are quiet prominent in the red light distreet. The moral values are missing and of course there are people who try to prevent the invasion of the bad part of the ''West mentality'' but it seems like they are losing their battle. Once upon a time, they took over the lands , and now they are taking over the minds...
In the nutshell, Singapore is a beautiful city, a good place to set up a house, but not to call a home. I will love to live there, as one can definitely feel the taste of living in a clean,pollution-free city where you can live a simple city-life and experience the life force of the city itself...

Lazy And Empty

My clothes have been in the washing machine for days...and when i finally discovered that i forgotten that my clothes were there, ''great''...they smelled extremely bad now.And i ll have to wash again. In order to get rid of the terrible smell,i had to use some nice smell soap,or washing powder or whatever...and i dont have any of my own.But well, my housemate has one and he put there, seems like it's fine that i just borrow some...."Softlan'' -the name of the product, and it smells nice.Well,i ll just use some, of course, since we are housemates ,i guess he wont mind if i just use a little bit....lol.

Ok,the clothes were done, and now i ll have to hang them. And,another ''great'' again, i have other clothes hanging under the sun,for days. After taking them into my room, i put them all together with other clothes on my bed.Seems like sooner or later,i will have no space to sleep with all the clothes, books, notes and etc.Well, after finishing hanging the washed clothes, i finally decided to put some order in my room.It was all messy.

First of all, i took all the clothes and put them into my dresser.Well, seems i am going to wear them sooner or later, so i dont think i need to fold them, just stucked them all into the dresser, i guessed it's all right. Then, the floor was full of tissue papers, and time to throw them into the correct place, not the floor again, but into the dustbin. At least now, my room looked quiet tidy...i supposed.

After cleaning up and everything, i lied on my bed, tired. Put on my earphone, listening to the songs, the room was empty and so do the soul.Tired and empty, i fell asleep quietly...
